Twenty-Four Hours in Miami: A Perfect Day of Fun, Food and People Watching
Miami is a city that thrives on energy, indulgence, and a little bit of spectacle—making it the perfect place for a jam-packed 24-hour adventure. Whether you’re stopping through for a quick trip or just looking to soak up as much of the Magic City as possible, here’s how I spent a day filled with strong Cuban coffee, fresh seafood, a quick style refresh, a little shopping, and a night out at one of Miami’s hottest new restaurants.
Morning: Cuban Coffee & Pastries at Tinta y Café
📍 1315 Ponce de Leon Blvd, Coral Gables
Nothing wakes you up quite like a proper Miami morning, which means starting with Cuban coffee is non-negotiable. Tinta y Café in Coral Gables was the perfect first stop. This charming little spot, with its cozy neighborhood feel, serves up some of the best cafecito and café con leche in town—strong, sweet, and just what I needed to kick off the day.
Of course, I couldn’t leave without a bite. Their croquetas were crispy perfection, and the pastelitos, with that irresistible combo of guava and cheese, tasted like Miami in pastry form. Sitting outside, watching locals stop in for their morning fix, it was the kind of slow, delicious start that set the tone for a great day.
After Coffee: A Quick Hair Refresh at Muses in The Gables
📍 Muses Beauty Salon, Ponce De Leon Blvd Coral Gables
Before a big night out in Miami, looking your best is key—so my girlfriend squeezed in a quick haircut with Mike at Muses in The Gables. Fast, precise, and just the right amount of Miami cool, it was exactly what she needed to feel fresh for the evening ahead.
Thank God the hair was on point because this night was about to be Miami fabulous!
…But first lunch on the Miami River with friends.
Midday: Lunch at Garcia’s on the Water
📍 398 NW N River Dr, Miami
After a morning well-spent in Coral Gables, it was time to head downtown for lunch at Garcia’s on the Water. This place is an institution for a reason—the fish is fresh, the vibe is laid-back, and the waterfront views come with nonstop entertainment.
And by entertainment, I mean the parade of yachts cruising by, loaded with bachelorette parties, influencers on a mission, and sun-kissed tourists ready to live their best Miami lives. The men on deck? Doing their absolute best to charm their way into the next big party. It was like a reality show unfolding in real time.
As for the food? Spot on. Grilled snapper, tostones, and an ice-cold beer made for a perfect midday meal.
Evening: Checking into The Mayfair & a Pre-Dinner Cocktail
📍 The Mayfair House Hotel & Garden, Coconut Grove
Before heading out, I checked into The Mayfair in Coconut Grove—and let me tell you, this hotel is a gem. With its large, stylish rooms, artsy-meets-tropical decor, and rooftop pool, it had all the right vibes for a quick Miami stay.
But my favorite part? The adorable bar tucked inside.
It was the perfect place for a pre-dinner cocktail—intimate, chic, open-air, and serving up the kind of well-crafted drinks that make you want to linger a little longer. A drink in hand, a stylish setting, and the night ahead still full of possibilities? Peak Miami magic.
Night: Shopping & Dinner at Mother Wolf in the Design District
📍 Miami Design District
A stroll through the Miami Design District was in order, with a little time before dinner. If you love eye-catching, high-fashion storefronts, glitzy glam, and over-the-top luxury, this is the place to be. Even if you’re just window shopping, the district is a feast for the eyes.
Then, it was time for dinner at Mother Wolf Miami. I’d been lucky enough to check out its LA counterpart and was dying to see if the Miami version lived up to the hype.
I’m happy to report: it absolutely did.
The food? Tasty, rustic Italian with a touch of indulgence. The scene? Peak Miami—beautiful people, buzzy energy, and that perfect blend of style and chaos. Every plate that landed on our table was a hit, but honestly, the people-watching was just as good as the food.
Back to the Mayfair.
But the real evening highlight? The rooftop pool bar.
🍸 Cocktail in hand, warm breeze, DJ spinning the perfect mix—this was Miami at its most magical. Lights glittering in the distance, the stars overhead, and the perfect end to a perfect day.
Final Thoughts
Miami in 24 hours? Absolutely doable—and wildly fun.
From the morning cafecito to the fresh seafood lunch, a quick style refresh, a glamorous window-shopping spree, and a night out at one of the city’s buzziest new restaurants, this was a day well spent. And ending it with a stylish stay and a cocktail at The Mayfair? The perfect cherry on top.
