There are a few smells that I associate with the holiday season; pine, cinnamon, baking sugar cookies, wood fires and cloves. Cloves are a great way to fill your house with one of the warm, spicy scents of the holidays. Apple clove pomanders add color, smell and texture to any holiday centerpiece or decoration. I love to use them in a casual fruit based centerpiece on the kitchen table. I use a wooden bowl or a rustic epergn and sometimes for a more festive fancy look I use a silver Paul Revere bowl. I combine fruits that I think of as “holiday” fruit – clementines, pears, apples with some sprigs of holly added for some color and interest.
Most people know how to create an apple clove pomander – you take a pretty red apple (crisp and fresh so it lasts longer) and you poke cloves into the apple creating a sort of apple pin cushion with cloves as the pins.

What a great idea! I can practically smell the warming clove and apple scents through my computer screen. I will definitely give this a try. Thanks for sharing!
